SCF Has More Donors In Texas Than Dewhurst

Print Friendly
David Dewhurst, the establishment Republican running for U.S. Senate in Texas, has attacked U.S. Senator Jim DeMint and the Senate Conservatives Fund for backing his conservative opponent, Ted Cruz.
"I think at the end of the day, Texans are too smart to have Washington insiders — special interest groups — try and pick their own hand-picked Senator. I'm running as a Texan," Dewhurst said. "Quite frankly, I don't think Texans want to see outside groups from Washington come in and buy an election. The special PACs — the special Washington interests in Washington — have spent running 100 percent untrue ads against me — some $6.5 million. So, I'm not going to let an outside group come in and pick who they want to be the next United States Senator. So, I've tried to level the playing field."

David Dewhurst would have voters in Texas believe that the Senate Conservatives Fund is backed financially by Washington special interests while he is supported by Texans. It turns out that exactly the opposite is true.

PACs have given approximately $800,000 to Dewhurst compared to only $223,000 to the Senate Conservatives Fund. Meanwhile only 3,023 Texans have donated money to Dewhurst compared to 8,985 Texans who have given to SCF.

This isn't a fact David Dewhurst wants to hear, but DeMint's SCF has nearly three times as many donors in Texas as the Dewhurst for U.S. Senate campaign.
