SCF Statement on Kentucky Senate Race
Greenville, SC — Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), chairman of the Senate Conservatives Fund, made the following statement regarding the election of Dr. Rand Paul to the U.S. Senate in Kentucky.
"I want to congratulate Rand Paul on winning a race that the leaders in his own party said he could not win. Rand overcame difficult odds because he consistently stood up for conservative principles. Voters in Kentucky have done something truly historic today. They've said 'no' to parochial, pork-barrel politics and sent an outstanding leader to the Senate. When Rand Paul takes the oath of office to support and defend the Constitution, he will mean it. I was honored to be an early supporter of his campaign and I look forward to working with him in the Senate."
SCF invested $284,732 in this race and Senator DeMint transferred $150,000 from his re-election campaign to the Kentucky GOP Victory committee.
The Senate Conservatives Fund is a political action committee dedicated to electing true conservatives to the United States Senate. SCF invested over $5.6 million in conservative candidates during the 2009-2010 election cycle.
