Cardon to challenge Flake

Print Friendly
Wil Cardon, a 40-year-old investment manager has announced plans to run for the U.S. Senate in Arizona against U.S. Rep. Jeff Flake (R-AZ).

In his first public interview with a national media outlet, Cardon told POLITICO:
"I've had enough. I'm a conservative, I'm a jobs creator, I'm a father and I just can't stand by. I'm not going to be a business as usual guy. I know how to create jobs, how to get the economy going and I think Washington needs more people like that."

Cardon has the ability to self-finance his campaign and is pledging to outspend Flake who had just over $2 million cash-on-hand at the end of June.
He also brings considerable wealth to the table and an adviser indicated he would soon make a "down-payment" that will immediately give Cardon a financial advantage over Flake.

While he declined to say how much of his own money he would put into the campaign, Cardon promised he would not be outspent.

"God's been good to me, I've worked hard. I'm going to invest in my candidacy and ask others to do the same. I won't be outspent," he said.
