New Refugee Security Bill
Monday, December 14, 2015The recent terrorist attack in San Bernardino, CA was another reminder that we are at war with radical Islam and that our nation’s leaders must take decisive action to stop terrorists, disguised as refugees, from entering our country.
President Obama cannot be counted on to protect this country and it’s up to our leaders in Congress to take action on this critical issue.
That is why I wanted to let you know that our endorsed candidate for the U.S. Senate in Florida, Congressman Ron DeSantis (R-FL), has sponsored new legislation in the House of Representatives called the Terrorist Refugee Infiltration Prevention Act of 2015.
The bill prohibits admitting refugees from countries that have significant territory controlled by an organization designated by the State Department to be a Foreign Terrorist Organization. It specifically names Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen as countries containing terrorist-controlled territory while also giving the State Department authority to identify and designate additional countries.
U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has sponsored a companion bill in the Senate.
Together, Congressman DeSantis and Senator Cruz are fighting to protect Americans from those who wish to do us great harm.
Please do two things today:
- Call your congressman and senators and urge them to cosponsor this legislation. The bill number is H.R.4143 in the House and S.2302 in the Senate. You can be transferred directly to your representatives by calling the U.S. Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121.
- Make a contribution to Ron DeSantis for Senate. We need more leaders in the Senate who are willing to fight for our principles.
Congressman DeSantis is running in a contested primary. His principal opponents, Congressman David Jolly and Lt. Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera, cannot be counted on to stand up and fight for our values
They’re moderate, establishment politicians who will join Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in cutting more deals with the Democrats.
