This Is Not Governing

Republicans gave the Democrats everything they wanted in the government funding bill and passed it yesterday with no debate and no amendments.

It was a total surrender.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) tried to describe the bill as “clean” but there is nothing clean about a bill that funds the president’s refugee program, Planned Parenthood, sanctuary cities, and Obamacare.

Senator McConnell boasts about how he’s “governing” and has gotten the Senate “working again.”

It’s working all right … for the Democrats!

This spending bill or “continuing resolution” is a perfect example of why many Republicans in Washington are part of the problem.

This bill capitulates to the Democrats by increasing spending over the budget caps set in 2013, increases funding for Planned Parenthood, and sets up a lame duck session after the election so Congress and the Democrats can force Republicans to pass even more of their liberal agenda.

This is not governing.

It’s not governing to constantly spend money we don’t have.

It’s not governing to allow refugees into our country from Syria and other terrorist-controlled countries.

It’s not governing to keep funding a health care program that is driving up costs, reducing coverage, and killing jobs.

It’s not governing to fund an organization that kills innocent unborn babies and sells their body parts for profit.

And it’s not governing to set up a lame duck session so you can pass an even bigger bill on Christmas Eve when nobody is watching.
