Republicans Should Not Bring Back Earmarks

Alexandria, VA – House and Senate Republicans should not overturn the ban on congressional earmarks. Senate Conservatives released the following statement from president Ken Cuccinelli:

“Americans are tired of politicians in Washington using their power to rig the system for special interests. This kind of cronyism, which is at the very heart of the earmarking process, is exactly what Americans rejected at the polls this year. It would be a major mistake for Republicans to bring back earmarks as their first act after the elections. It would be a slap in the face to the millions of Americans who just voted to drain the swamp.”

Senate Conservatives Action is a grassroots organization that promotes conservative principles and holds lawmakers accountable. It is urging its members to contact key Republicans to urge them to preserve the earmark ban. It will also heavily weigh lawmakers’ position on this issue when deciding whether to support potential primary challengers.
