Alexander Announces Retirement

Tuesday, December 18, 2018

Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) announced yesterday that he will retire at the end of his term, opening an important seat for conservatives to fill in 2020.

Tennessee has been voting more conservative in recent elections. President Trump won the state by 26 points and U.S. Senator-Elect Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) just won her race by 11 points.

Voters in the Volunteer State are looking for conservative leadership and that gives us a great opportunity to help elect someone who will fight for limited government and personal responsibility.

However, in order to succeed, conservatives will need to unite behind a strong candidate in the Republican primary. Since Tennessee does not have a primary run-off, a liberal Republican can win with limited support if multiple conservatives divide a majority of the votes.

We’re already talking to prospective candidates in this race and will do everything we can to help the grassroots unite behind a true conservative who can win.

If you want to help us elect another conservative in Tennessee, please make a contribution before the end of the year.

We need to rebuild our war chest so we have the funds to recruit and elect outstanding candidates in Tennessee and other states.

Thank you for doing so much to help us build a conservative Senate by winning key races one election at a time.
