Make El Chapo Pay for the Wall

Thursday, July 18, 2019

Earlier this year when a number of Senate Republicans opposed President Trump’s emergency declaration to fund the border security wall, we told you about a way for these Republicans to do their jobs and fund the wall legislatively.

It’s called the El Chapo Act and it was introduced by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) to require the billions in forfeited profits of the notorious drug smuggler, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, to be reserved for border security measures, including the completion of a wall.

Yesterday, a federal judge sentenced El Chapo to life in prison and ordered him to pay $12.6 billion in forfeiture.

NOW is the time to bring the El Chapo Act up for a vote and to reserve these funds for real border security!

Please send an instant message to your representatives in Washington urging them to pass this legislation.

“There’s a justice to it,” Senator Cruz said. “You know those billions that El Chapo has were made trafficking illegally across the U.S. border, bringing narcotics across the border, and it is only right that those ill-gotten gains go toward fixing the problems and stopping the next narcotrafficker.”

He’s absolutely right, and it’s time for those in Washington who have made endless excuses for why they can’t fund real border security to take action and use these forfeited funds to pay for it.

Tell your representatives – Republicans and Democrats – to support the El Chapo Act right now!

We have a major crisis at the border, and something must be done. In the month of May, authorities apprehended 144,000 people coming across the border illegally. If this continues at this rate for a year, then nearly 2 million people will come in illegally.

Please send an urgent message to Washington: No more excuses. It’s time to secure the border.

Thank you for being part of our team and for doing so much to help us fight for conservative policies in Washington.
